Thiranthi & Nipuna at the Gangarama Temple and The Hilton, Colombo.
Thiranthi and Nipuna’s wedding is one of the most interesting, wide-ranging weddings I have shot in Sri Lanka. With both a traditional Buddhist Poruwa ceremony and a church ceremony followed by a grand reception, their wedding is an example of a truly cultural experience in Sri Lanka.
We started at Gangaramaya temple, where the bride and groom wore traditional Kandyan wedding garb reminiscent of princes and princesses in ancient Sri Lanka. Gangaramaya temple provided for some incredible photography – with so much beautiful architecture and sculptures, we were completely immersed in the grandeur and history, for a very modern, young couple.
This Sri Lankan wedding is an example of deep and wide cultural history of the country, and we truly enjoyed being a part of it.
